The decorative art known as Art Nouveau is a philosophy that was a reaction to academic art of the 19th century. It was inspired by natural forms and structures in nature, especially flowers and plants. 
Curved lines are an essential component to this ornamental style, which is why my calendar involves bold borders. The subject chosen was decorative seasons. Each animal is the focal point. The colors portray an association between holidays, feelings, and emotions within each month.
